Best Fall and Halloween Events on 30A This October

The first weekend of October is the loudest one on the calendar, and for once that is a compliment.

Cars of 30A takes rare and high-performance cars and parks them on the whitest streets on the Gulf Coast. Friday, October 2, is Torque to Table, an adults-only (21+) dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. set as one long table on South Charles Street, with the cars lined up alongside. Saturday, October 3, is the Grand Tour, from 1 to 4 p.m., when the full collection fills the streets with live music, art, retail, and food. Saturday is family-friendly, and there is a new VIP tent in Central Park. Tickets are through Alys Beach.

Same weekend, a few minutes east. WaterSound runs three days of community tours, a free First Friday concert, a pickleball tournament, a bonfire, and a block party with food trucks. Most events need advance registration. It is part open house, part party, and a low-pressure way to see the WaterSound communities if you are shopping.

The Destin Seafood Festival is the unofficial start of fall on the Emerald Coast, and it has been for 48 years. It is free to attend, packed with local seafood vendors and live music, and set on the Destin Harbor. The 2026 festival ran September 25 to 27, so it is already in the books for this year, but it lands in late September every year. Put it on next year's calendar now. It is in Okaloosa County, not Walton, and it is still worth the drive.

Walton County fall break for 2026 is Monday, October 12, and Tuesday, October 13. Students also have an early release on Friday, October 9, which turns it into a long weekend, per the Walton County School District calendar.

What locals do with it:

A heads-up if you are visiting: other school districts set their own breaks, and fall break weekends can fill rentals and restaurant tables faster than you would expect for October. Book dinner early.

October 15 to 18 is the biggest food and drink weekend of the month. Pick your beverage and your end of the county.

Harvest is in its 10th year, and it is the most polished event of the season. It opens Thursday, October 15, with wine dinners at restaurants around South Walton, including Indaco in Alys Beach, Mimmo's 30A, Surfing Deer, and Pandora's Steakhouse. The Grand Tasting (1 to 4 p.m.) and the evening Harvest After Dark party (7 to 10 p.m.) both happen at Cerulean Park in WaterColor. It closes with a Jazz Cocktail Brunch on Sunday, October 18.

The money goes somewhere real. Harvest benefits the Northwest Florida Children's Foundation, formerly the Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation, which reports more than $42M donated to local children's charities since 2005. Tickets are sold by event, and the wine dinners are small, so buy those first.

Harvest is the rare festival where the setting is as much of the draw as the pour. Cerulean Park sits at the heart of WaterColor, and walking to it is one of the quiet perks of owning in WaterColor.

On the west end, Baytowne Wharf in Sandestin hosts its 18th Annual Beer Festival, with more than 150 craft beers, live music, and tasting sessions: Friday, October 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, October 17, from 2 to 5 p.m. The night before, Thursday, October 15, Bubbly Baytowne pours free champagne for shoppers 21 and up starting at 5 p.m.

Halloween on 30A is less haunted house and more golf cart in a costume. The last week of October is the best week of the year to be a kid here, or a dachshund.

Dachshund races. Costumes. It is a whole thing. The 16th Annual Halloweener Derby runs Saturday, October 24, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Seaside. The costume contest starts first, then the races. Racers register through Seaside's event page. Spectators just show up, and you should, because nothing on this coast beats a wiener dog in a cape running the wrong way.

If you see a pack of witches on bicycles on Friday, October 30, you are not imagining it. The Witches of South Walton ride every October for the Children's Volunteer Health Network, a local nonprofit that provides health care for kids. 2026 marks their 23rd annual ride. The Founders Ride starts early that morning in Santa Rosa Beach and pairs with the Witches Brew and a brunch. It is one of the best examples of how this community shows up for itself.

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, which means you can do two in one night:

Seaside or Grand Boulevard first, Baytowne second. The timing works, and the fireworks are a better ending than a sugar crash in the car.

The Friends of Camp Helen State Park run the pumpkin patch every day from October 1 to 31, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., per Florida State Parks. You pick your pumpkins and gourds, pay at the Friends' table, and the money goes back into the park. It is the most low-key fall tradition on this list, in the best way.

A local geography note: Camp Helen sits right on the Walton and Bay county line, just east of Inlet Beach across the Phillips Inlet bridge. Technically it is Bay County. Practically, it is where the east end of 30A goes for pumpkins.

Not everything happens on 30A. The west end of the Emerald Coast runs its own fall calendar, and some of it is the best-attended stuff on the coast.

The Destin Fishing Rodeo is 78 years old and takes over the whole month. Weigh-ins happen every day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. behind AJ's Seafood and Oyster Bar on the Destin Harbor, and they are free to watch. Show up around sunset and you will see boats come in with fish that look fake. Two side events are worth the calendar: the Rodeo Run 5K on Sunday, October 4, from Clement Taylor Park, and a free Kids Fall Movie Festival at AJ's on Monday, October 12, which happens to be the first day of Walton County fall break.

HarborWalk Village on the Destin Harbor hosts its Halloween Spooktacular on Saturday, October 24, from 3 to 8 p.m. In past years it has been a free, family-friendly street carnival with trick-or-treating along the waterfront. It lands the same day as the Halloweener Derby, so you can do dachshunds in Seaside in the morning and the harbor in the afternoon.

Grand Boulevard is where a lot of South Walton locals spend a normal Saturday, and its fall lineup is built for them:

Between Grand Boulevard, Baytowne Wharf, and The Market Shops, the Miramar Beach and Sandestin side has something on nearly every fall weekend, and most of it is free.

October gets the costumes. November gets the corkscrews. Here is the month.

If you only come for one fall weekend and you drink wine, come in November. Four of the best-run food and wine events on the coast land inside three weeks, each in a different town, and each one feels like the town it is in.

Seeing Red is in its 34th year and is the oldest wine festival on this stretch of 30A. It opens with a vintners dinner on Thursday, November 5, and moves through a reserve tasting, a sommelier competition called Battle of the Somms, the Grand Tasting at the Seaside Amphitheater on Saturday, November 7, from 1 to 4 p.m., and a Celebration of Bubbles brunch on the Lyceum Lawn Sunday morning. The organizer says it consistently sells out, and the reserve tasting already had. Do not wait on this one.

This is the Alys Beach fall festival the team calls out in the video. Crafted is five days of makers, chefs, and craftspeople, and it is the most Alys Beach thing Alys Beach does. The 2026 lineup opens with a 30A Songwriters session on Wednesday, November 11, then three experiential dinners on Thursday at Red Loggia at Caliza, George's at Alys Beach, and The Summerhouse. Friday brings a Cocktails and Clay workshop and the Firkin Fête beer night in Central Park. Saturday is the Spirited Soirée cocktail tasting. The Holiday Makers Market is free and open to everyone Friday through Sunday, with Santa photos on Sunday. Proceeds support the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County.

Uncorked is a walking tasting: 10 Rosemary Beach restaurants each pair a signature dish with wine, and you stroll town between them from 1 to 4 p.m. It is the 15th year. General admission is $225 and VIP is $350, and the money goes to Caring and Sharing of South Walton and the Children's Volunteer Health Network. Uncorked is the best way we know to learn Rosemary Beach's restaurant scene in one afternoon.

The 14th year of this one pours more than 30 champagnes with bites around The Village from 4 to 6 p.m., with carolers, and ends with the Nights of Lights show. It is the handoff from fall to the holidays.

On Friday, November 6, the 30A BBQ Festival brings 18 eateries to the North Lawn at Grand Boulevard in Miramar Beach from 5:30 to 8 p.m. (general admission $70, kids 12 and under $20), benefiting The Sonder Project. That same weekend, Mountainfilm on Tour shows two nights of outdoor documentary films at the WaterColor Marina Park Amphitheater, November 6 and 7. Bring a blanket.

Walton County schools are closed Wednesday, November 11, for Veterans Day, and all week for Thanksgiving break, Monday, November 23, to Friday, November 27. That week is when a lot of families come down, and it is when fall on 30A turns into the holidays.

The 15th 30A 10K Thanksgiving Day Races start in Rosemary Beach and run along 30A. The 10K goes off at 7:30 a.m., the 1-mile fun run at 7:35 a.m., and the 5K at 9:30 a.m. Afterward there are awards, breakfast, a DJ, and a mimosa and Bloody Mary bar for the adults. This is how the whole season ends: in running shoes, then in stretchy pants.

After enough fall seasons here, a few rules hold up.

Buy the small tickets first. Wine dinners, reserve tastings, VIP tents, and long-table dinners have the fewest seats. The big tastings usually have more room.

Pick a side of the county each weekend. Alys Beach, Rosemary Beach, and WaterSound are on the east end. Baytowne, Grand Boulevard, and The Market Shops are on the west end in Miramar Beach and Sandestin, closer to Destin. Driving 30A end to end on a festival Saturday is a choice you only make once.

Keep one eye on the weather. Hurricane season runs through November 30. Outdoor events can shift for storms, so check the organizer's page the week of.
