We Tried Every Airstream On Seaside’s Airstream Row So You Don’t Have To

The Kendall Hood Collection may have just invented a new foodie challenge—one we’re calling the 30A Airstream Challenge.

To save you from decision paralysis, we sent our marketing guru to tackle the ultimate 30A tasting tour, trying every Airstream along Seaside’s famous Airstream Row. If you're visiting this charming beachside town and can only choose one trailer to dine at, don’t worry—we’ve got you covered. But first, let’s dish out a little history.

Okay, But How Is This a Challenge?

Oh, we’re so glad you asked. Trying every Airstream isn’t just a challenge for your wallet (surprisingly, they’re quite affordable), but it’s a caloric gauntlet. Those gourmet grilled cheeses and gyro? Delicious. But earning the right to devour them? That’s where the challenge comes in.

Here’s the twist: the real feat isn’t just sampling every Airstream—it’s how you get to Seaside.

We kicked off our journey from The Kendall Hood Collection’s office in Blue Mountain Beach, taking the scenic route through Grayton Beach, Watercolor, and a series of picturesque bridges. Along the way, we conquered what might be the only inclines on 30A (a rarity, but trust us, they’ll make your legs remember). All told, it’s about a 9-mile round trip.

If you’re feeling inspired to follow in our footsteps—literally—don’t forget your tennis shoes, a big bottle of water, and maybe a motivational playlist. By the time you reach Airstream Row, you’ll have worked up an appetite worthy of the indulgence. Just remember, the walk back is still waiting for you... #NoRegrets.

A Brief History of Airstream Row

Once upon a sunny Seaside day, Case Cooper had a problem. His beloved shaved ice business, Frost Bites, needed a new location. Thinking outside the box (and into a vintage trailer), he parked a 1955 Airstream along Highway 30A and turned it into a dazzling food truck. What started as a clever workaround grew into a cultural icon, inspiring a fleet of Airstreams to line the heart of Seaside.

From bold street eats to indulgent sweet treats, Airstream Row is now a pilgrimage for food lovers and beachgoers alike. Let’s dive into the lineup of shiny trailers and what each one brings to the table.

Let’s Get Down to Brass Tacks

Full disclosure: we fear we may have approached the order of these Airstreams… sub-optimally. But hey, that’s why we’re here—to make the mistakes so you don’t have to. You’re welcome.

First Up: The Green Stream

A health nut’s paradise. Think organic cold-pressed juices, açaí bowls, and smoothies that are as Instagram-worthy as they are refreshing. It’s the guilt-free hero of Airstream Row, perfect for detoxing between indulgences—or so we thought.

We ordered the Ginger Shot because, after walking four miles on an empty stomach, we figured, “What’s one little shot?” Friends, let us tell you: this shot is not messing around. It’s served with an orange slice, and in our hunger-induced delirium, we ate the orange first. Big mistake. HUGE.

When we say this ginger shot is strong, we mean it has the power to make your sinuses question their life choices. Without the orange chaser, the heat hits you like a spicy freight train. Our advice? Save this one for mid-tour as a palate cleanser—or at least take the orange and the shot together, like the wellness gods intended.

Lesson learned. On to the next stop…

Next Stop: Mr. Gyro Hero

Mediterranean magic. This Airstream brings the flavors of Greece right to the sandy shores of 30A. With pillowy pita, spiced meats, and tangy tzatziki, it’s a crowd-pleaser for any beachside foodie.

We went classic and ordered their traditional gyro with a side of fries—because, honestly, sometimes you just have to stick with the OG. The gyro was timeless: tender meat, perfectly balanced tzatziki, and fresh veggies wrapped in soft, warm pita. As for the fries? Let’s just say they were so crisp and golden they deserve their own fan club.

The serving size is generous enough to share, but we’re not saying you have to. Sharing is optional, after all.

Barefoot BBQ (Our Absolute Fave)

When it comes to BBQ, this Airstream doesn’t just deliver—it knocks it out of the park. From smoky flavors to crave-worthy sides, Barefoot BBQ had us swooning, and weeks later, we’re still dreaming about it.

We ordered the Chicken Nachos to share, and wow—crispy chips piled high with tender, flavorful chicken, melty cheese, and all the fixings. It’s the kind of dish that makes you forget you were planning to “just snack.”

But the real MVP? The baked beans. These aren’t your ordinary BBQ beans; they’re a little smoky, a little sweet, and absolutely unforgettable. It’s been weeks since our Airstream Challenge, and we’re still craving them. Do yourself a favor and don’t skip this stop—you’ll thank us later.

The Meltdown on 30A

Grilled cheese, but make it fancy. This Airstream takes comfort food to gourmet heights with gooey, melty sandwiches stuffed with elevated ingredients like brie, bacon, and perfectly caramelized onions. On paper, it’s a dream.

We tried the This Little Figgy—a creative combo of brie, bacon, and sweet fig compote. While the flavors were bold and thoughtfully paired, the brie brought a bit more funk than we were ready for. The bread? Solid. The overall execution? Respectable. But for us, it’s not a must-repeat.

That said, everyone else seemed to disagree because this was hands down the busiest Airstream on the row. So if long lines mean anything to you, maybe give it a shot—or skip it for a faster snack elsewhere.

Wild Bill’s Beach Dogs

Hotdogs, redefined. Grass-fed beef, quirky toppings, and flavors that scream “beach day vibes.” If you’re a fan of loaded options, trust us—you’re in for a treat.

We opted for the Chicago Dog, and let’s just say it was a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds. Topped with all the classic Chicago-style fixings—neon relish, onions, pickles, and a dash of mustard—it was vibrant, flavorful, and big. At this point in our challenge, though, we were starting to feel the effects of our Airstream marathon, and packing it down was no small task.

Still, the fluffy New England bun and bold, juicy hotdog made it all worth it. Whether you’re fresh off the beach or deep into your own Airstream crawl, this spot delivers all the fun and flavor you need.

Verdict: Super flavorful, super fun, and totally worth the food coma.

Frost Bites

The OG Airstream Experience. Whether you’re cooling off with their iconic shaved ice or sipping on fresh-squeezed lemonade, this is where it all began—exactly as Case Cooper dreamed it.

By this point in the challenge, we were in full-on caloric high mode, so naturally, we went for the most over-the-top item on the menu: the Zombie Apocalypse. Its base? A flavor boldly (and hilariously) named Nuclear Fallout. And let us tell you—this was hands-down the best snow cone we’ve ever had.

Coming from Southerners who’ve had their fair share of snow cones, that’s no small claim. Sweet, tangy, perfectly icy, and unapologetically colorful, it was everything you want a snow cone to be and more.

Verdict: Loved, loved, LOVED this! If you’re doing Airstream Row, Frost Bites is an absolute must—no excuses.

Crêpes du Soleil

Sweet and savory heaven. From Nutella and strawberries to ham and cheese, their made-to-order crêpes promise a little sunshine in every bite.

Unfortunately... they were closed. Cue the sad violins. Technically, this means our challenge remains incomplete, but if we’re being honest, we were already at maximum capacity. Maybe it was the universe’s way of saving us from ourselves—or giving us an excuse to come back for round two.

Verdict: TBD—but we’ll be back!

Learnings from the Airstream Challenge

If you’re ready to take on the Airstream Challenge, here’s what we learned to make your experience smoother (and tastier):

  1. Start with Barefoot BBQ. It’s the best, and you’ll want to kick off your adventure on a high note.

  2. Next, hit Wild Bill’s Beach Dogs for those vibrant hotdogs and perfect buns.

  3. Follow up with Frost Bites for a snow cone and a sweet mid-adventure sugar boost.

  4. Then, stop at The Green Stream for a Ginger Shot to cleanse your palate and reset for round two.

  5. Move on to Mr. Gyro Hero for Mediterranean flavors and something a little lighter.

  6. Head to The Meltdown on 30A for a gourmet grilled cheese—just be ready for a line.

  7. Finish strong with Crêpes du Soleil for dessert (assuming they’re open—fingers crossed!).

Pro Tips:

  • Go with a partner and split everything. It’s the only way to tackle this many flavors without going into full-on food coma mode.

  • Order multiple things at once. Efficiency is key, and it lets you enjoy more variety without standing in endless lines.

Trust us, following this strategy will elevate your Airstream experience to legendary status.
